YOUTH LEADERSHIP
Dec. Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. May Jun. Jul. Aug. Sept. Oct. Nov.
It seems that the word Leadership has lost some meaning over time. Many people associate a good leader with someone who has been named captain of the team because he/she is the most skilled at the sport or the loud extravert interrupting and talking over people. While these two examples have obvious strengths that may assist in their leadership, it doesn’t necessarily make them good leaders. An effective leader is one who can both, lead and follow; take input from others and make appropriate decisions to move the team towards its goals.
Each person in your youth group has their own leadership style but sometimes leadership is not always obvious. Debriefing (or discussing) the outcome of each of your days’ activities will not only help to highlight the strengths of each youth, it will also teach youth to accept and utilize the strengths of others. By working together as part of a peer group youth will share in team success and push on through defeat building character, confidence, and group and self awareness.
