TRADITIONALLY CANADIAN
Canada is a vast country with mountains, lakes, prairies, forests, tundra, ice and snow. Before the age of cars and the internet our ancestors lived, worked, and traveled all across Canada in a manner that may seem unfathomable to some of us. No doubt our reputation of being honest, hardworking and polite came from the humbling work that built this great country. Below are some unique and traditionally Canadian adventures for your family to enjoy.
½ DAY HORSE LOGGING ADVENTURE
Not so long ago, my grandfather (and many of yours I’m sure) was a farmer here in the Pontiac Region. Being a farmer usually meant that winters would be spent logging, preparing firewood and building materials for the upcoming season. This Horse Logging Adventure will offer you glimpse into the life and times of our recent ancestors. You will learn about the draft horse, a magnificent and powerful animal that thrives on work yet is gentle enough to be pet by a child. You’ll gain hands on experience with old time logging implements such as the cant hook and the cross cut saw. With our guidance you’ll begin to understand what life was like for a great deal of people in this area and all across Canada. After all, the Pontiac Region and Ottawa Valley was quite literally built with the help of Horse Logging.

sleigh rides

A horse drawn sleigh ride is quite a unique experience. It can offer romance and tranquility for couples, a fun activity for family and friends, or adventure for children’s and other local events. A sleigh ride is also a terrific outdoor adventure for those who are somewhat less mobile.
The power and grace of the draft horse, the silence of the sleigh gliding over the snow, the light sound of jingle bells. There’s really nothing quite like a horse drawn sleigh ride in the Pontiac.

½ DAY DOG SLEDDING ADVENTURE
You’ve seen it on T.V., read about it in books, and maybe even dreamt that you were dog sledding. Well now’s your chance. A most unique experience with more than 4000 years of Canadian history is available right here in the Pontiac Region. You’ll learn hands on all you need to navigate your team through the corners and over the hills. Imagine yourself as Denis Rozon, member of the 1995 Canadian dog sled team or Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the Iditarod dog sled race. A safe and exciting experience that is sure to be the talk of the town.

SUMMER DOG SLEDDING ADVENTURE
It would be tough for anyone to train, prepare for, and race all in just 3 months of winter. That’s why racing sled dogs practice all year long (with the exception of hot summer afternoons). Similar to Winter Dog Sledding you’ll have a chance to meet the dogs, and learn to handle and harness the dogs too.
This adventure is family friendly, a tonne of fun, and an antidote for summer’s “Mom, I’m board!” syndrome.
